Is your employee engagement strategy too employee focused?
Employee engagement strategies typically place a heavy emphasis on improving the work environment of employees: Do they feel listened to by their manager? Are they recognized for good work? Do they get regular feedback? Do they have the tools to get their jobs done? re their peer relationships strong? This kind of focus makes sense. Engagement with their immediate surroundings affects employees’ day-to-day sense of connection to the company…Link to complete article (opens in new window)

Why The Buzz About Employee Engagement And Company Culture?
According to Deloitte’s Global Human Capital Trends 2015, company culture and employee engagement is a driving issue for the top companies in the world. I hear these two words thrown around a lot, so I thought I’d take some time to explain how CultureIQ approaches these topics. What makes company culture? The environment, the setting, the social norms, the office rituals, and the language of those working in one workplace. Or more simply, it’s how things get done in an organization. What is employee engagement? Engagement is the manifestation of a strong company culture. In other words, the stronger a company’s culture, the better employees understand what is expected of them and what they are working toward…Link to complete article (opens in new window)

Five ways employers can boost employee engagement
Personnel Today
Research from Deloitte published earlier this year found that employee retention and engagement has become the second highest priority for business leaders, only beaten by the challenge of building global leadership. Studies consistently show that a highly engaged workforce can deliver improved business performance in numerous ways including revenue and profit growth, customer satisfaction, higher productivity, staff retention and efficiency….Link to complete article (opens in new window)

Recruiting Employees — and Their Friends — to Market Your Brand
In the digital economy, the task of building a company’s brand is more complicated than ever. Unlike the 20th century, where advertising and marketing events defined and differentiated brands in the consumer minds, 21st century companies must compete in real-time among a sea of voices constantly fighting for attention from their audience….Link to complete article (opens in new window)

The science behind why people give money to charity
The Guardian
There are several questions that have fascinated behavioral scientists for decades: why do people ignore information that is right in front of us? Why do we seem to care so little about our long-term futures? And why do we give money to charity? Behavioral science can help us to unpack the question further… Link to complete article (opens in new window)

When it comes to employee education, businesses need to go back to school
The traditional route to success has been that children go to school, take their learning further in university or college and (with any luck) graduate into the workforce where they apply their chosen trade. While it’s common to hear someone say they “learned more in their first couple months at a job than they ever did in school,” for the most part education has ended as soon as the students are handed their caps and gowns… Link to complete article (opens in new window)

Tuition Reimbursement: A Benefit for Some Employees and Employers
Several years ago, the company I worked for offered — and most likely still offers — a benefit I find valuable: a free education. Included in the benefits package was reimbursement for certain tuition expenses. The company would pay ninety percent of all costs of obtaining a bachelor’s degree in any field as well as the same percentage of expenses for earning a master’s degree related to the employee’s field. Job-related certifications were also covered by the employer. There were some caveats for receiving the reimbursement, but there weren’t many hoops to jump through… Link to complete article (opens in new window)
